Shule means "School" in Swahili
A curriculum crafted around character, community and collective inclusion…
The Shule Foundation are committed to education and passionate about building some of the best schools in Uganda.
We have learned so much from taking our kids back to school. From what works and what doesn't for children who return to the classroom after a prolonged absence.
By working alongside educational and agricultural experts, Shule has designed a unique learning model, taking a holistic approach to education.
"Just like the children that come through our Watoto Mtaani Program, we to have a dream. Our dream is to build schools that equip all children with the tools they need to succeed in adulthood." ~ Jacqueline Wolfson, Founder
Our specially crafted curriculum is built on the relationship between 5 pillars:
A student attending our schools in Uganda will learn about the collective responsibilities of these key stakeholders, growing in empathy and in understanding how they fit into the bigger picture.
Our curriculum provides social, educational, agricultural and entrepreneurial programs for children aged 9 to 17, allowing students to choose their own path based on individual passions and talents.
More than just academia, our inaugural school will be situated on our farm in Kigumba. Shule schools will aim to develop student’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural well-being, and learning is encouraged through inquisitiveness & inquiry, participation and experience.
Shule campuses are designed to meet the needs of the 21st-century student in Uganda, home to state-of-the-art educational, agricultural and sporting facilities.
Our inaugural school will be situated on 20 acres of land with modern classrooms, computer lab, dining hall, infirmary, dormitories, faculty housing, a farm and so much more.
Our schools welcome children from varying economic and cultural backgrounds and the faculty are all highly qualified locals committed to educating future generations.
Shule campuses will be the hub of the communities where we live and work, helping to transform Ugandan towns by providing improved access to water and sanitation as well as rural electrification.
We aim to empower our neighbors by offering valuable programs and services such as computer and library access, adult educational classes, sustainable farming initiatives, employment opportunities and more.
