CHANGING LIVES THROUGH EDUCATION

Sponsorship is one of the most powerful and sustainable ways you can fight poverty for good.
But it’s not just powerful, it’s personal.

Through our sponsorship program you play a huge role in moving our kids from surviving to thriving.  By covering a child's school fees you are lifting that child out of poverty.

By joining Shule Foundation's Sponsorship program, you offer a hand up — not a handout — to one of our kids. Your monthly gift makes a child's dreams come true and empowers them to grow into independent and financially responsible adults.

A $38 a month contribution enables a child to return to primary school and begin their formal education journey. *

A $45 a month, two-year commitment allows a child to complete technical and vocational training, and graduate with seed money.

Meet some of the kids you can sponsor.  These boys have successfully completed our rehabilitation program and are now studying. Learn more about our Watoto Mtaani (Street Kids in Swahili) Rehabilitation Program here.

We want every child in our sponsorship program to:

  • Enjoy good health
  • Be educated for life
  • Feel loved and supported
  • Be cared for, protected and empowered.

For just $1.26 a day through our sponsorship program you and you sponsored child can correspond through email or letters, you can even face-time. We promise to provide you with updates and progress reports. And if you want -- come visit. Together we will show you all the beautiful things Uganda has to offer. It's up to you!

Questions You May Have Before You Sponsor a Child

How long do I sponsor a child?

We know that sponsoring a child is a big commitment, especially financially.  Before committing please consider the following:

Our Formal Education Sponsorship Program is along-term commitment. When signing up to sponsor a child who is pursuing formal education we ask you to commit to the completion of that child's education - through university if that ends up being the case.

Our Technical and Vocational Sponsorship Program is a two-year commitment.

Can I visit the child?

Yes. You are more than welcome to visit your sponsored child. Please give us a call to find out how this is possible.

How often will I hear about the child? And from the child?

The relationship between you and your sponsored child will grow and develop through regular communications. Throughout the year, you can communicate with the child as much or as little as you want. Though we encourage you to get to know your sponsored child. We will update you at the end of every term of your sponsor child's progress. You will hear from your sponsored child at least twice a year.

Can I send gifts to my child?

Yes, but with limits. Elaborate gifts can set your child up for jealousy within the community, or even a feeling of dependency on you rather than their parents.

Does the money go directly to the child/family?

No. Your child sponsorship payments will be used to cover schools fees, that Shule  pays directly to the school, requirements and other items necessary for your child to excel in their learning  (for example - school supplies, extra tutoring, transportation), health and nutrition needs.

What does my monthly gift provide for the child?

Your sponsored child will have access to things like an education, improved healthcare and better nutrition. Your monthly pledge provides resources that empower the child to succeed in their educational journey.

Is this a real child/how many sponsors does each child have?

Shule connects a single child with a single sponsor. As long as you continue your monthly sponsorship, no one else will sponsor that child.

Can I have communication with my child?

Absolutely! We encourage you to write to your sponsored child. Through consistent monthly support, letters, and prayers…you and your sponsored child build a relationship that benefits both of you.
